Every year, some 15,000 people in the Netherlands are diagnosed with intestinal cancer.
Treatment may consist of surgery, often supplemented with radiation or systemic therapy. As a result of the disease and treatment, body weight and muscle mass may decrease, and patients with colon cancer may suffer from fatigue and loss of appetite.
In the national Prospective National CRC cohort (PLCRC) cohort (https://plcrc.nl/) intestinal cancer patients are followed up for some time and clinical data and patient-reported outcomes are collected.
During your internship, you will study to what extent a person's lifestyle, such as exercise, smoking and alcohol consumption, plays a role after the diagnosis intestinal cancer and how the quality of life changes after the diagnosis.
You will also contribute to data collection within the PLCRC.
The exact scientific question will be determined in mutual consultation with you.
