Samenvatting
The thesis 'Evidence Synthesis in Evidence-Based Medicine: Guidance and Application’ explores how to improve the way medical studies are identified, assessed, and reported to support evidence synthesis in evidence-based medicine. The thesis offers practical solutions to improve transparency and usability. It shows that searching clinical trial registries adds important studies beyond traditional databases, but many registry records lack results. The research provides guidance on how best to choose a methodological quality assessment tool for diagnostic and prognostic studies. It reviews and updates a tool to assess prediction model studies (i.e. PROBAST+AI) and provides an update to a tool measuring reporting adherence to the reporting checklist TRIPOD+AI.
